Basina is a small silent cove on island Hvar situated in close proximity of towns Jelsa and Vrboska. It is specific for its dense pine forest and very refreshing and clean Mediterranean air which is filled with fragrances of surrounding olive trees, wine yards and lavender fields. The island Hvar itself is known as one of the most desirable tourist destinations in the Mediterranean. Numerous beaches smile onto a translucent turquoise sea. It is the sunniest island in The Adriatic with 2725 sunny hours per year. Its climate is typical for Mediterranean which makes the sea temperature comfortable for swimming from June till the end of September. The sea temperature rarely exceeds 26 C. Summer heat is not a problem due to the constant afternoon wind Maestral which makes the stay outdoors pleasant. Numerous beaches smile onto a translucent turquoise sea. The combination of sea translucency and very rich marine life makes scuba diving truly divine experience. The restaurant scene is rightly renowned and the nightlife full-on and fizzing. Little wonder, then, that Hvar has been luring tourists from all over Europe for years.

 

The island Hvar is very attractive to adventurists and explorers for its large number of small coves and bays, dens forest environment, rich history and historical buildings. In hilly part of the island there are small picturesque villages built in recognisable Mediterranean architecture, with their narrow streets and church on the top of the hill. There are neolith archaeological remains found on the island, as well as remains of Greek and Roman architecture.
Architectonic culmination on Hvar happened in 16th and 17th century during the Venice rule. Most famous buildings date from that period. The Hvar fort, Petar Hektorovics fort, Hanibal Lucics summerhouse, and of course one of the oldest theatres in Europe - the theatre in Hvar.
